Abstract

1492191 Locking hinge for cycle frames TRUSTY MFG CO Ltd 23 June 1976 [22 July 1975] 30538/75 Heading E2F A locking hinge 6 for a cycle frame comprises two semicylindrical sections 7, 8 hinged about one edge by a pin 10 to form a tube in a closed condition; caps 11, 12 being engagable over the ends of the said tube by a manual knob 14 and screw means. The knob 14 is attached to a spindle 13 which is screwthreaded into a nut 15. Plates 18 and 19 arewelded to section 7 and receive the spindle which carries circlips 20, 21 to limit its movement circlip 23 being mounted on the nut 15 and acted on by a spring 24. The hinge can be welded onto the halves of the down tube 5 of a cycle frame or can be formed integrally with the ends of the tube halves. Movement of the knob 4 from the position shown first raises cap 11, then when circlip 21 engages plate 18 the nut 15 is moved downwards against spring 24 to release cap 12.
