Abstract

1491328 Shelving C VATTIER 4 Aug 1975 [7 Aug 1974 27 Dec 1974] 32592/75 Heading A4B [Also in Division F2] A support bracket for fixing a horizontal planar member, e.g. a shelf, tray or slab, to an upright 4 of tubular form, e.g. a square or round section leg of a trolley, table or television stand, consists of a triangular plate providing a bearing surface 1 to support the shelf, the plate being formed with a cut-away portion (or 5), Fig.4, (not shown) in the case of a round section upright to fit a part of the periphery of the upright, and having depending flanges 6a, 6b extending from the profile of the cut-away portion to a point at least slightly beyond a line 7 parallel to a line joining the other vertices of the triangle, apertures 3a, 3b which are drilled in the plate to receive screws to connect the shelf to the bracket, the edges 9a, 9b of the flanges being arranged along generators of the upright so as to contact the latter and provide a rigid assembly when the bracket is attached to the upright either, as shown by welding a plate 11 to the underside of the bracket, apertured to receive a fixing bolt, or by directly welding edges 5a, 5b, 9a, 9b to it.
