1490973 Sublimation printing R D GLOVER 8 Oct 1974 [16 Oct 1973] 48107/73 Heading B6C In a printing method a transfer carrying sublimable dyestuff is placed against a copy sheet having suitable affinity and subjected to simultaneous heating and a gas or vapour pressure differential between two plate structures through which air can flow. In the method described in the Specification for printing felt tiles, two at a time, each tile 50, Fig. 1 is placed over a vacuum tank 12 on a grid 48 and is covered by a transfer carrying a design in a sublimable dyestuff such that the design contacts the upper surface of the tile. Over the transfer is placed a heating plate structure 14, e.g. of sintered metal containing heating elements and a cooling form 94 and this structure is movable on rails horizontally away from the top of the tank 12 in order that the superimposed transfer and tile may be placed on or removed from the grid 48. Each tank is reciprocable in a vertical direction so as to break or make the necessary seal between the tank, grid, tile, transfer and heating structure. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,376,108.
