Abstract
1490250 Laminates KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO KK 20 Feb 1975 [20 Feb 1974] 7252/75 Heading B5N A heat-insulation laminate material comprises a transparent film of polyvinylidene fluoride having a thickness of 2-200 microns, a layer of metal, e.g. copper, silver, gold, zinc, magnesium, cadmium, antimony, aluminium, tin, chromium, nickel, palladium or platinum, adhered at one surface to a surface of the film and a layer of a self-supporting substrate material, which is a heat-insulation material or reinforcing material, adhered to the other surface of the metal layer. The polyvinylidene fluoride may be a homopolymer or copolymer of vinylidene fluoride with one or more comonomers, e.g. tetrafluoroethylene, hexafluoropropylene, monochlorotrifluoroethylene, vinyl fluoride, ethylene, perfluorovinylalkylethers or vinyl acetate. The polyvinylidene fluoride film may be an unoriented or stretched film produced by extrusion or casting. The metal may be applied to the film by vacuum deposition or electro plating in a thickness of 0À01-0À5 microns. The substrate material may be paper, glass cloth, wood, metal, e.g. stainless steel, natural rubber or a plastics material which may be foamed, e.g. polyvinylchloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS resin, polystyrene, synthetic rubber, polycarbonate, polymethylmethacrylate or polyurethane; and may be bonded to the metal surface using an adhesive, e.g. chloroprene based adhesive. The laminate may be used to insulate roofs and exterior walls of buildings, oil tanks, refrigerators, vehicles and machinery with the polyvinylidene fluoride film surface nearest the source of radiant ray. It may be attached to the surface to be protected by means of an adhesive, nails or bolts, or in the case of a plastics substrate material by high-frequency welding.
