Abstract
1490205 Colour television INDESIT INDUSTRIA ELETTRODOMESTICI ITALIANA SpA 15 Oct 1974 [22 Oct 1973] 44725/74 Heading H4F The phase of the reference subcarrier oscillator 10 in a PAL colour television receiver is controlled by controlling a phase shift circuit 8 connected between a burst gate 2 and oscillator 10, such control being carried out in response to a signal derived from the output of at least one of the demodulators 3, 4. Burst gate 2 is opened to pass only every second colour burst and is controlled by a circuit 6 receiving line repetition frequency pulses 5 and a signal from a half-line-frequency generator 7 which also controls a PAL switch 13. The output of B-Y demodulator 3 is fed via a half-line-frequency selective circuit 17 to a circuit 18 which provides the control signal for phase shift circuit 8 and resets generator 7 if it is operating in incorrect phase. Circuit 18 may also receive a second input from a second half-line-frequency selective circuit 17<SP>1</SP> connected to the output of R-Y demodulator 4. The circuit 18 includes two peak detectors (21, 22, Fig. 2, not shown) connected with reversed polarity to the output of frequency selective circuit 17; if circuit 17<SP>1</SP> is included it is connected to two similar peak detectors (21<SP>1</SP>, 22<SP>1</SP>), the outputs of corresponding peak detectors (e.g. 21, 21<SP>1</SP>) being added together. The output of one peak detector (or the corresponding adder) controls two threshold circuits (25, 26) one of which (25) has a higher threshold and shorter time constant than the other and supplies the resetting signal to generator 7 if the generator 7 is operating in the incorrect phase ; such incorrect phase results in the burst gate 2 separating the wrong bursts and oscillator 10 operating at 90 degrees to the correct phase. The second threshold circuit (26) controls a change-over switch (27) to supply the output of one of the peak detectors (or the corresponding adder) to control phase shift circuit 8.
