Abstract

1489452 Aluminium alloy SWISS ALUMINIUM Ltd 14 March 1975 [18 March 1974] 10679/75 Heading C7A Aluminium alloys suitable for the production of offset lithographic printing plates and having a high fatigue strength and good wear resistance contain Mg 0À2-0À9 Cu 0À35-0À7 Al Balance with impurities of Fe 0À0-0À7, Si up to 0À3, Mn up to 0À05, Zn up to 0À05, Ti up to 0À03 for grain refinement, Cr up to 0À05 and B up to 0À02. The alloys may be cast normally, homogenized at 480-620‹C depending on composition, hotrolled at 400-480‹C, cold-rolled, with intermediate anneals at 315-400‹C, to penultimate gauge, finally cold-rolled with at least 20% reduction to size, and then parially annealed at 120-260‹C to produce material with an 0À2% offset yield strength of 15À5 - 19À9 kg/mm<SP>2</SP>. This processing produces alloys with high fatigue strength and retaining further work hardening capacity so that wear is minimized.
