Abstract
148,925. Goodenow, F. J. May 6, 1918, [Convention date]. Doors.-A furnace door more especially for hardening, carbonizing, and other heat-treatment furnaces, is formed with flues 11 through which part of the hot gases from the furnace chamber are withdrawn so that the temperature in the neighbourhood of the door can be maintained uniform with that in other parts of the furnace. As shown, the door consists of a ribbed metal shell 7 with a fire-brick &c. lining within which the flues 11 are formed, such flues opening at the bottom into the doorway and leading upwards to auxiliary outlet shafts 13 controlled by dampers 14.
