Abstract

148,907. Poth, R. Dec. 22, 1913, [Convention date]. Drying air.-Apparatus for separating moisture from currents of compressed air comprises a series of compartments filled with broken quartz and having drainage outlets to a receptacle from which the water can be removed. In the apparatus shown, air entering bv an inlet 8 passes sinuously through the compartments formed by floors 3 and filled with broken quartz and through a passage 6 to the outlet. The floors 3 are slightly inclined so that the water drains from compartment to compartment, finally passing through holes 13 to a chamber 14 and through outlet 15 to a float chamber and away. For use in mines, apparatus having the partitions 3 disposed vertically may be employed.
