Abstract
1488822 Cephalosporin C TAKEDA YAKUHIN KOGYO KK 27 Sept 1974 [28 Sept 1973] 42047/74 Heading C2C The invention comprises (a) the production of cephalosporin C by culturing a cephalosporin C-producing polyploid microorganism belonging to the genus Cephalosporium in a culture medium comprising an assimilable C source and a digestible N source until cephalosporin C has accumulated therein and recovering it therefrom; and (b) a cephalosporin C-producing polyploid microorganism belong to the genus Cephalosporium which has been induced by a method suitable for the production of polyploid microorganisms from a cephalosporin C-producing microorganism of the genus Cephalosporium. Illustrated methods of inducing the required microorganisms are (a) treating a strain of Cephalosporium acremonium with camphor and determining which of the resulting strains have the required properties and (b) crossing two strains which are differently marked beforehand and grown on a minimal medium.
