Abstract

1488480 Supporting pipe-lines SEA & LAND PIPELINES Ltd 18 Nov 1974 [7 Sept 1973] 42265/73 Heading F2P A device for supporting pipe-line laid underwater comprises two assemblies 1 (Fig. 1) adapted to be clamped to piles 3, which have been jetted into the bed 4 on which the pipe-line has been laid, said assemblies 1 supporting a support member 5 (Fig. 2) adapted to cooperate with part of the pipe-line 2 to be supported, and jacking means for moving the support member 5 relative to the assemblies 1. Each assembly 1 comprises two clamps 15 and a T-section beam 16 which has a housing 14 located in a cut-out 23 to support one end of the support member 5. Said housing 14 comprises a circular platform 25 and a hollow cylindrical member 27 provided with a longitudinal slot (29) (Fig. 5, not shown) for receiving a stiffening rib 11 (Fig. 2) on support member 5. Said support member is also provided at each end with a block 12 into which bolts 13 are screw threaded, each block initially being located in one of the housings 14. The bolts 13 can be rotated to engage the platforms 25 and jack-up the support member 5 to apply an upward supporting force to the pipe-line. Locating members may be fixed across the top of the pipe between the plates 9 of the support member 5, said plates 9 being provided with holes 10 for this purpose. The piles 3 are maintained at a splayed angle of about 14 degrees to the vertical and may be jetted into the bed 4 by water pressure introduced through connectors 32 and expelled through jets 33. The blocks 12 may releasably and temporarily be secured to their respective housings 14 by locating bolts.
