Abstract

1488025 Vibrated filters J KASPAR and V BICIK 22 Oct 1974 [23 Oct 1973] 45564/74 Heading B1D A method and apparatus for filtering suspensions using a filtering layer and maintaining a pressure differential across the filtering layer, wherein the particles which collect directly on the filtering layer are continuously detached from the filtering layer during the filtering process by vibrating the filtering layer in a direction parallel or tangential to its surface, said particles being carried back into the suspension by stirring. In the embodiment shown unfiltered liquid enters through tube 6, filtrate passes into space 1 and is withdrawn through vertical rotating tube 2 and thickened unfiltered liquid exits through tube 7. Rotor 20 and blade 26 stir material to be filtered and vibrators 12, 14 and 8 vibrate hollow filter 10 with filtering layer. Other embodiments detail hollow rotating, and non rotating filter screens with adjacent stirrers (inside and outside). Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), and a tubular hollow screen Fig. 4 (not shown).
