Abstract
Phosphinic acid esters of the formula I <IMAGE> in which R3 denotes an alkyl group or an optionally substituted phenyl radical and R2 represents an H atom or has the meaning of R1, are prepared by reacting phosphonous acid monoesters of the formula II <IMAGE> in which R3 denotes an alkyl radical which is optionally substituted by chlorine and R1 has the abovementioned meaning, with allyl alcohols of the formula III <IMAGE> in which R2 has the meaning given under formula I, at temperatures between 100 and 190 DEG C in the presence of free-radical formers; the alcohol of the formula R3OH is simultaneously or subsequently eliminated and the reaction products are separated off. The resulting cyclic phosphinic acid esters are intermediates for the preparation of flameproofing agents and can also be used as fire resistant additives for lubricants.
