Abstract
1487429 Gravity concentration apparatus; magnetic separators ANGLO AMERICAN CORP OF SOUTH AFRICA Ltd 31 Jan 1975 4351/75 Headings B2H and B2J [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for concentrating minerals e.g. gold ore or diamonds, comprises a trough the base of which forms part of a belt 4 that is movable transversely to the longitudinal axis of the trough. The belt may be made of rubber and may be provided with riffles of triangular or rectangular cross-section (14) which run parallel to or at an angle to the axis of the trough and in one embodiment consist of slats. The material to be concentrated is fed through an inlet 12 and runs off into an outlet 13. Heavy material which settles on the belt passes under a roller 7, is removed from the belt by a spray 9 and falls into a concentrate launder which may be compartmentalised. Magnets 15 may be mounted under the floor 11 of the trough at its forward end to assist in the removal of iron. The roller 8 may be magnetised towards its forward end and the roller 7 may be indented to allow the pieces of iron to pass.
