Abstract

1487171 Polymer compositions BAKELITE XYLONITE Ltd 12 Sept 1974 [13 June 1973] 28176/73 Heading C3P Compositions for making shaped articles comprise by weight (1) 100 parts of high density ethylene polymer and/or a propylene polymer, (2) 5 to 100 parts of a polymer or copolymer of styrene or a methyl substituted styrene containing at least 50% of styrene and/or methyl styrene, (3) 0À5 to 20 parts of butyl rubber and (4) 0 to 20 parts of an ethylene/vinyl copolymer. The compositions may also contain fillers and pigments and may be made into uni- or biaxially stretched sheets suitable for use as paper substitutes which are free from "ghosting" in lithographic printing processes. Examples describe the preparation of sheets from compositions comprising high density polyethylene, polystyrene, butyl rubber, ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate and an amine-type antistatic agent.
