Abstract
1487063 Gas turbine blades ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd 23 Aug 1974 [25 Aug 1973 17 Oct 1973] 40370/73 and 48357/73 Heading F1T A gas turbine stator blade is protected by rectangular cooled ceramic elements 14 secured to the blade wall 12 by resilient clips 16 engaging in grooves 18, 20. Cooling air from the blade interior 11 flows through holes 22, 24 in wall 12 and clips 16 respectively and thence through grooves 25 in the back of elements 14 before issuing between the elements into the gas stream. Elements 14 may be of silicon nitride having a ceramic felt outer surface covered by a glaze, whereas the wall is of nickelchrome steel.
