Abstract

1484967 Core constructions BBC BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 30 Oct 1975 [19 Nov 1974] 45010/75 Heading H2A An electric machine rotor comprises coaxial inner and outer members 1, 3 interconnected by spokes 4 which are evenly spaced apart round the rotor circumference and tangent to an imaginary cylinder 7 within and coaxial with the inner member 1, the axes of every two neighbouring spokes intersecting within the inner member 1 and all the spokes being inflexible in their respective longitudinal directions. The spokes permit relative angular movement of members 1, 3 in response to stresses occurring during operation. The spokes may be connected to members 1, 3 by hinged joints 5. The outer member 3 may be made up of arcuate laminations. Alternatively, the outer member may comprise laminated salient poles 10, Fig. 4 (not shown), joined together by hinges (9).
