Abstract

1484784 Stands; leg supports NW MIZELLE 10 June 1975 24840/75 Headings A4H and A4U A christmas tree stand comprises three brackets equally spaced around the tree, each bracket comprising metal rod, e.g. zinc coated carbon steel wire, bent into generally U-shape to form a ground engaging foot 18 and arms 22 and 28 extending inwardly and upwardly from the foot and terminating in an inwardly directed section 26 penetrating the trunk 12 and a depending upwardly open hook above the level of foot 18 comprising a first vertical section 32 lying alongside the trunk, a second vertical section 36 penetrating the trunk and a radial portion 34 joining said sections 32, 36 and underlying the trunk. Sections 26 and 36 are spiked and are driven into the trunk, section 26 being driven by striking a vertical section 24. Parts 28 and 32 may be joined by a horizontal section 30 so that the trunk 12 can be supported in a water container. In a modification for use with an artificial tree, the sections (48, 56) penetrating the trunk are not spiked and are received in drilled holes 50, 58 in the trunk. The foot 18 frictionally receives a non-slip detachable resilient plastics shoe (40).
