Abstract

1484158 Battery separators COMPAGNIE EUROPEENNE D'ACCUMULATEURS 15 Nov 1974 [21 Nov 1973] 49603/74 Heading H1B A separator for a lead-acid accumulator plate 1 comprises 2 microporous, insulating plates 2, 3 connected together wholly or partly around their edges by means of flat connecting members 5, 6. The members 5, 6 are preferably of a polyethylene copolymer to which synthetic acrylic rubber is added, the material being applied around the edges of plates 2, 3 at an elevated temperature and being allowed to solidify and become rigid on cooling. The sheets 2, 3 may be of a phenolic resin containing polyester, or they may be of P.V.C. foam and have pores of a radius in the range 1-7 Á and a porosity in the range 75- 80%.
