Abstract
A batter element comprises positively and negatively charged plates arranged in series, each sepd. by an electrolytically permeable separator. The edges of the separators are tightly connected together by common walls, on at least 2 sides, so forming a packet of pockets for the plates. The walls consist of an opt. fibre-reinforced carrier of polyester foil or polyester fleece coated with a melt adhesive based on polyethylene (I), (I)/wax or (I)/PVAc. Used in mfr. of starter or indl. batteries requiring little servicing. Little risk of short-circuiting and over-charging.
