Abstract
1483485 Road traffic bollard F W R FARROW 27 Oct 1975 [16 Nov 1974 4 Feb 1975] 49696/74 and 4673/75 Heading E1G A resiliently displaceable traffic bollard comprises a hollow casing 20 of rectangular or other section surrounding and suspended from a fixed centre post 2 by upper and lower groups of tension springs 7. As shown the post 2 is connected to an anchored socket 10 by bolting to a weak replaceable tube 12 which will bend or break on excessive impact. In a modification dispensing with the tube 12 the socket 10', Fig. 4, has a weakening groove 22 and is surrounded by a spring 23 which, following an excessive impact, separated the parts of a broken socket and thereby pulls a clamped cable 21 from electrical contacts 25, leaving a rubber cap 28 in position. It is stated that (a) the sockets 10 or 10' may be replaced by stubs; (b) the sockets 10 or 10' may be fixed on the frame or cover of electrical equipment; (c) the space between the casing 20 and the ground may be closed by an internal flexible skirt or by a loose telescopic sleeve provided with feet.
