Abstract
6-Aminopenam and 7-aminocephem compounds of the formula H<2>N-A are prepared by subjecting a compound of the formula R<1>-C(SR<2>)=N-A, in which R<1> represents an organic radical and R<2> represents a substituted mercapto group, to a solvolysis or by reacting a compound of the formula R<1>-CS-NH-A with a sulphidising agent to give the compound of the second formula given above and subjecting the latter to a solvolysis. The compounds are obtained in good yield, if desired in the one-pot process. They are intermediates for the synthesis of antibiotics of the penicillin and cephalosporin series.
