Abstract

148,303. Removable Overshoe Co., (Assignees of Hazen, E. H., and Levi, S. L.). Nov. 12, 1913, [Convention date]. Renewable calks &c.-Detachable sections 7 each carrying calks 14 are provided. Each section is formed with an offset portion 9, Fig. 1, having ears 10 co-operating with a right and lefthanded screw 11 to fix the two sections in position on the shoe 6. Lugs 8 are provided which are bent over at the top to fit the upper surface of the shoe. The shank of the calk is inclined as shown in Fig. 4 and is held in position in its co-operating slot by a wedge 19. Ears at 26 limit the lower position of the wedge in the slot. To remove the wedge, a drift is inserted in a cut-away part 27 of the calk. A continuous bend 29 on the undersurface of the section 7 may fit into a corresponding groove in the shoulder of the calk to reduce torsional stress in the shank. In a modification shown in Fig. 5, the lug with bent-over part 8 is formed integrally with the shank of the calk.
