Abstract
148,275. Nordiska Kullager Aktiebolaget. July 18, 1919, [Convention date]. Disk apparatus; round holes, enlarging and trueing.-Spherical concave surfaces are ground by means of a rotating grinding-disk mounted on. a shaft the axis of which intersects that of the rotating work at the centre of the spherical surface. The work, shown as a ring 19, is mounted on a rotating shaft 9 carried by a table 5 slidable on a guide 8, and the grinding-disk 28 is mounted on a rotating shaft 16 carried by a table 24 slidable on a guide 23 positioned at an oblique angle to the guide 8. The maximum possible diameter of the grinding-wheel corresponds to the position shown by the dotted line a<1>, whereby the face or the grinding-wheel is tangential to a sphere having the same centre as the spherical surface under formation and a diameter equal to the axial depth of the ring. As the disk wears, it is fed axially by the hand-wheel 25: when its diameter is reduced to that shown at the position a<4> it can no longer be used, its replacement by a larger wheel being necessary.
