Abstract
1482713 Two-part couplings LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS GmbH 16 July 1974 [4 Aug 1973] 31539/74 Heading H2E [Also in Division H4] An electrical component for passing a radio frequency signal but not direct or power frequency current, e.g. a television coaxial cable coupling component comprises two or three isolating capacitors each formed from a dielectric plate having on two opposite sides electrodes of conductive material, and connections leading to and from said electrodes which are so sized and spaced to match the characteristic impedance of the r.f. coaxial cable. In a first embodiment, Fig. 1, two capacitors 1, 2 are formed from dielectric discs 5, 6 which are coated on opposite sides 7, 8 and 9, 10 with electrodes 11 of conducting material. The core 12 of a co-axial cable 3 is connected to the electrode 11 of the side 9, and the outer conductor 13 is connected via a sleeve 14 with the electrode 11 of the side 8. The electrodes 11 of the sides 8, 9 are separated by an insulating disc 15. Electrode connections 16, 17 are soldered to the electrodes 11 of the sides 7, 10. Preferably the connections 16, 17 comprise a U-shaped spring metal strip (20), Fig. 2 (not shown), which is cut apart at a later stage after encapsulating the component in plastics material 23, Fig. 3, connection 17 distinguished from connection 16 by, for example, providing a slot (24) therein. In a second embodiment, Fig. 5, three capacitors have respective dielectric plates 34, 35, 36 with electrodes 11 on both sides. Plate-like connections 43, 44 are provided for the inner capacitor, and are disposed at right angles to each other with the core of the coaxial cable connected to one of them. The outer capacitors are paralleled by means of U-shaped strips 41, 42, which are disposed at right angles to each other, and which provide respective connections 37, 38 and 39, 40. The outer conductor of the coaxial cable is connected to one of the strips 41, 42. The assembly is finally encapsulated, Fig. 6 (not shown).
