1481961 Preservation; animal feedstuffs; preserving crops BP CHEMICALS INTERNATIONAL Ltd 6 Feb 1975 [13 March 1974] 11181/74 Headings A1F A2B and A2D A method of preserving substrates (by "substrates" is meant grass agricultural crops and materials used in preparing compounded animal feedstuffs) comprises treating said substrate with an acid mixture comprising a C 5 -C 8 mono carboxylic acid and one or more of propionic, n-butyric and iso-butyric acids. The C 5 -C 8 monocarboxylic acid is preferably valeric, caproic, heptanoic or caprylic acid or a branched chain isomer thereof.
