Abstract

1481899 Cage wheels EQUIMET Ltd 2 July 1975 27843/75 Heading B7C A cage wheel for attachment to a driving wheel of a vehicle, e.g. an agricultural tractor, comprises a plurality of arms 2 radiating from the centre of the cage wheel and a member 5 pivotally mounted on each arm and pivotable in response to rotation of spindle 12 via nut 10 and a link 9 pivotally connected at respective ends to the nut and the member. The cage wheel is attached to the vehicle driving wheel in the manner illustrated in Fig. 3 with arms 2 bearing against the inner surface of the wheel rim 4 and projections 6 on the members engaging in recesses defined by elements 7 welded or bolted to the rim. An additional tread (20) (Fig. 2, not shown) comprising two rings (21, 22) and tubes (23) extending therebetween may be attached to ring 15 or ring 16 by bolting, riveting or welding. The various pivot pins may be disengageable to permit replacement of parts of the attachment mechanism.
