1481261 Liquid chromatography W M THAW 6 Feb 1975 5171/75 Heading B1H Silica gel of Tyler mesh size coarser than 100 mesh, pore volume of more than 0.43 cc/ gram and pore diameter of not more than 22 Angstroms is used in liquid chromatography. The pressure may be from atmospheric to 1000 psig. A series of solvents may be used to remove successive fractions. The final eluting solvent may be removed by a further liquid (a desorber) or by heating. Examples relate to fractionation of alkyd resins.
