Abstract

1480965 Space dyeing yarns DONISTHORPE & CO Ltd 22 Feb 1975 7542/75 Addition to 1395023 Heading D1L The process of space dyeing acrylic yarn disclosed in Parent Specification, wherein hanks of the yarn supported on a plurality of transversely spaced endless belts are passed beneath a row of dye nozzles is modified in that the nozzles are arranged in longitudinally spaced rows with each nozzle of each row being supplied from a common tank via a line having a valve 46 and one or more manifolds 50. The lines are provided with a pump 42 and a recycle line 44. Each nozzle is in the form of a flexible tube 52 releasably retained in clips 34 on bars 31 vertically adjustable on rods 30. Dyed hanks are immediately conveyed to a steamer 16 having inlet and outlet extraction flues 70 and a sloping roof 62. The conveyor is formed from strips of stainless steel bent into a zig-zag pattern [Fig. 3 (not shown) ], the longitudinal portions (20) of which are linked by transverse rods (22).
