Abstract

1480626 Control lever assemblies CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 3 Oct 1974 [18 Oct 1973] 43004/74 Heading B7E A control lever assembly comprises a shaft 22 secured to a mounting member 16, a lever 10 journalled to pivot about the shaft by means of a needle bearing 34 mounting a central portion 30 of the lever on the shaft, a friction member 38 between the portion 30 and the member 16, spacer members 42, 44 mounted non-rotatably on the shaft on the opposite side of the portion 30 to the member 16, means to retain the spacer members on the shaft, a friction disc 52 engaging the spacer member 44, a washer 66 mounted between the disc 52 and a friction disc 54 and connected to the portion 30 for rotation with the lever, and non-rotatable washer 62 positioned between the disc 54 and a friction disc 56 engaging the central portion 30, the spacer members 42, 44, friction discs 52, 54, 56 and washers 62, 66 being movable along the shaft vary the amount of friction exerted on the portion 30 by the friction member 38 and discs 52-6, which friction serves in use to lock the lever in a desired position. In the illustrated embodiment the spacer members 42, 44 are retained on the shaft 22 by a nut 74 which acts on the members through a washer 72 and Belleville spring pack 68, 70 to enable adjustment of their position on the shaft.
