1479978 Rear view mirrors Y TALBOT 23 Oct 1974 [29 Oct 1973] 45825/74 Heading B7J In an external rear view mirror assembly, an intermediate member 330 which supports a mirror housing is slidable on impact, relative to a foot member 320, in a guide path defined by the elongate section of the foot 320 which is engaged by an elongate element 333 carried by member 330, the member 330 being disengageable from the foot 320 as shown by an impact directed transversely to the direction of sliding, due to resiliency of the means by which the foot 320 and member 330 are interconnected, as shown the resilient element 333. In other forms, the foot itself or elements carried thereby are resilient. Detent means normally hold the foot and intermediate member in a predetermined relationship. A plastics seal may be interposed between the foot 320 and vehicle body 1 to at least partly encase the foot.
