Abstract

1479960 Knocking-up apparatus RUEL E TAYLOR Inc 25 Sept 1974 [3 Oct 1973] 41692/74 Heading B8R Knocking-up devices 22 provided at the top of a stack to which sheets are being delivered each comprise an endless chain 46 trained around spaced sprockets 34 and 44. The chains are arranged so that one run of each thereof moves in the direction of delivery of sheets to the stack and so that these runs perform oscillatory motion transverse to their general direction of movement for knocking the pile. The sprockets may be mounted in bearing blocks urged apart by spring 45 to keep the chain tensioned. The chain may be provided with stack engaging rollers 51. A flexible belt 24 may surround the rollers so that this rather than the rollers engages the stack. The devices are laterally adjustable to accommodate stacks of different widths and are vertically adjustable on posts 19. The stack is collected on a vertically movable platform 14.
