Abstract

1479866 Flame-resistant polyester compositions MITSUBISHI RAYON CO Ltd 13 Oct 1975 [14 Oct 1974 6 Jan 1975] 41810/75 Heading C3R A flame- and arc-resistant composition (C) comprises by wt. 100 parts (P) poly(tetramethylene terephthalate), 3-50 parts (H) a flame-retardant halogen compound, (A) Na antimonate, NaSbO 3 .XH 2 O, or a mixture containing Sb 2 O 3 and #40% Na antimonate, and 0-60%, based on (C) of talc; where wt. ratio (H)/(A) is from 0À25 to 6. Also present may be #40%, based on (C), of a filler, e.g. glass fibre. (H) may be conventional non-polymeric Br- or Clcontaining aliphatic or cycloaliphatic compounds, including phosphates, or brominated polyesters, polycarbonates, or polyepoxides. (P) may contain small amount of units derived from ethylene glycol, 1,3-propanediol, or isophthalic acid. (C) may also comprise #40% of polycarbonate; polystyrene, polymethylmethacrylate, PET, polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS, or nylon. (C) may be pelletized for extrusion-moulding, e.g. of electrical apparatus.
