Abstract

1479311 Ploughs RANSOMES SIMS & JEFFERIES Ltd 9 Jan 1975 [9 Jan 1974] 01027/74 Heading A1B The support leg 3 of a reversible plough is pivoted to head 1 by means of alternative spindles 2, 7, and contains a piston rod 10 pivoted at 12 to head 1 and provided with a piston 29B located in a hydraulic cylinder 29 connected by 53, 52 to a pressurized hydraulic accumulator 51, so that when the plough body engages an obstruction, the leg 3 is rotated about the upper spindle 2 and the rod 10 and its piston 29B are drawn partly out of the cylinder 29 to expel fluid to the accumulator 51 which returns it to the cylinder 29 when the obstruction is cleared, to cause re-entry of plough body into work. The accumulator 51 is of gas diaphragm or piston type, and is pressurized by the tractor hydraulics. Where multiple plough bodies are used (as in Fig. 2), the hydraulic cylinders 29 are connected to a common accumulator. The spindles 2, 7 are fixed in blocks 3A on the beam 3, and their ends project are received disengageably in semi-cylindrical cups in the hub 1. The slew bolts 3D slew at a load greater than the load required to operate the hydraulic system.
