Abstract

1478973 Moving-iron instruments REYROLLE PARSONS Ltd 20 Aug 1974 39798/73 Heading G1U A moving-iron instrument has a cylindrical coilformer having in its outer surface 11 an elongate recess 15 extending circumferentially with its longer sides non-parallel and into which is fitted an arcuate fixed-iron 19 flush with the former surface and having at one end an inwardly turned tail 18 which passes through a slot 16 in the former and projects inside to form a polepiece Fig. 1 (not shown). The measuring coil 20 is wound around the former being separated from the iron 19 by a layer of insulating tape. To facilitate fitting the iron 19, recesses 12A, 13A are formed in the rims 12, 13 of the coil-former. The invention may be used in the meter disclosed in Specification 1381739.
