Abstract
147,876. Wanderer - Werke vorm. Winklhofer & Jaenicke Akt.-Ges. Aug. 24, 1914, [Convention date]. Tabulating-mechanism; tabulating-key actions. -In a column-selecting and denominational tabulating mechanism, the column-selecting mechanism. is arranged to lock the denomination stops until the carriage has travelled a predetermined distance, the selected denomination stop being then projected into the path of a column stop. The travel of the carriage may be divided into sections by section stops, the number of sections travelled before the denomination stops are effective being determined by depressing one or other of a set of section keys. In the mechanism shown in Figs. 1 and 3, a stop-bar 21 on the carriage 3 supports, preferably but not necessarilv at equal intervals, sections stops 22 adapted to actuate a toothed wheel 23 on a shaft 29 provided with a pinion 30 engaging a rack 31. A detent 26, engaging a notched disk 25, retains the parts in the set position. The section keys operate levers 7b carrying rods 35 having pin-and-slot connexion with extensions 34 which are urged by springs 36 into contact with a shoulder 31a on the rack. The denomination stops 15 are carried by bell-cranks 12 which are pivoted on the denomination-key levers 6a, springs 13a being arranged between the bellcranks and arms 6b on the key-levers. The denomination-key levers actuate a bail 58 connected by a link 60 to the carriage-releasing device. The denomination stops are provided with pins 15a for engaging locking-fingers 48 on a shaft 48a mounted in a stationary bracket 49. Arms 47, secured to the shaft 48a and provided with springs 50, are connected by links 43 to levers 42 which are pivoted on a stationary bracket 41 and are connected by a bar 42b adapted to engage shoulders 44 on the rods 35. The denomination stops cooperate with column stops 19 carried by a stopbar 20 on the carriage. Preferably, as shown, two sets of column stops are provided and the denomination stops can be rocked bodily to cooperate with either set. When a section key is depressed, the corresponding rod 35 is raised and the shoulder 44 thereon engages the bar 42b and reverses the toggle 42, 43, the locking-fingers 48 being thereby moved into engagement with the pins 15a to lock the denomination stops. The extension 34 of the rod abuts on the shoulder 31@ of the rack, and the spring 36 is strained, the rod being retained in the raised position by a catch 37 which engages a shoulder 35b on the rod. If now a denomination key is depressed, the carriage travels until the shoulder 31a releases the extension 34 of the elevated rod 35, such release occurring when the carriage has travelled a number of sections determined jointly 'by the section stops and the operative section key. Thereupon, the catch 37 is released by a shoulder 34b on the extension, and the rod 35 is depressed by the spring 36. During the descent of the rod, a shoulder 44<a> engages projections 42a on the levers 42 and restores the toggle 43, 42 to the normal position, the locking-fingers 48 being thereby raised to release the denomination stops. Thereupon, the spring 13a associated with the operative denomination-key lever is effective to raise the associated denomination stop into the path of the column stop 19 that is disposed in the section following the last section stop that has engaged the toothed wheel 23.
