Abstract

1477821 Actuating slides OFFICINE MECCANICHE RINO BERARDI SpA 16 April 1975 15686/75 Heading B3B [Also in Division F2] A screw-and-nut mechanism for controlling the traverses of a slide 10 in a machine tool comprises a rotary shaft 16 which is not displaceable axially and carries screw members 26, 32 having square threads which are engaged by rollers 36, 36a arranged in two diametrically opposed rows carried by a support 38 rigidly secured to a bed 12 of a machine tool. The screw member 26 is rigidly secured to the shaft 16 by a key 24, and the screw member 32 is coupled to the shaft 16 by a key 34 which enables axial movement of screw member 32 relative to the shaft 16. Rollers 36a, 36b and 36c, 36d engage opposite flanks of the screw threads in order to eliminate back-lash and apply pre-load. The screw member 32 may be positioned by mechanism comprising a rack 44 and pinion 46 acting on screw members 48, 50.
