Abstract

1477199 Automatic analysis; sample supply system TECHNICON INSTRUMENTS CORP 28 Aug 1975 [2 Sept 1974] 38212/74 Heading G1B A sample supply apparatus for a continuous flow analysis system comprises off-take tube 11 which in use extends axially into another tube 7A of larger diameter, in use a stream of liquid segmented by segments A of immiscible fluid being passed through tubes 6, 7, 7A, the arrangement being such that an axial portion of this segmented stream passes into the off-take tube 11, the axial portion forming only a part of the whole stream but being segmented by the immiscible fluid segments at substantially the same intervals as the whole stream. In the apparatus shown, the remainder of the stream passes into funnel 8 and the liquid moiety flows out at 13. The apparatus may be used to provide a segmented stream of wash liquid to pass alternately with samples through an off-take tube aspirating samples from a turn-table, Fig. 1 (not shown), when the same peristaltic pump may be used to introduce segments 10 and for sample aspiration.
