Abstract

1477090 Laminates GRIFFINE-MARECHAL 19 Nov 1975 [19 Nov 1974] 47625/75 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] Adhesive plasticised polyvinyl chloride films may be prepared by (a) coating siliconized paper with solvent-free adhesive compositions comprizing (1) 100 parts by weight of an acrylic resin containing reactive functional groups, (2) 10 to 50 parts by weight of a plasticiser and (3) 0À2 to 3 parts by weight of a crosslinking agent which is active above 70‹ C., the adhesive after deposition being heated to above 70‹ C. for at most 1 minute, this latter temperature being at least equal to the activation temperature of the crosslinking agent, and (b) applying the plasticized polyvinyl chloride film to the adhesivecoated face of the siliconized paper. The composition may contain a crosslinking catalyst. The paper may be subsequently removed and the film adhered to a support, e.g. a wall. In an example the adhesive comprises a vinyl acetate/ 2-ethylhexyl acrylate/acrylic acid/hydroxyethyl methacrylate copolymer, didecyl phthalate, hexamethoxymethyl melamine and p-toluene sulphonic acid.
