Abstract

1476912 Nitrile copolymer/graft polymer compositions MITSUBISHI CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 16 Jan 1976 [19 Feb 1975] 01823/76 Heading C3G A nitrile copolymer composition comprises (A) a graft copolymer produced by copolymerizing (a) 10 to 500 wt. parts of a conjugated diene polymer, or copolymer of at least 40% by weight of conjugated diene, and at least one comonomer selected from acrylonitrile, styrene, methyl acrylate, ethylacrylate, methyl methacrylate and ethyl methacrylate and (b) 100 wt. parts of a monomer mixture comprising 25 to 85% by weight of acrylonitrile, 3 to 40% by weight of styrene and/or alpha-methyl styrene and 5 to 70% by weight of a vinyl ether and (B) a copolymer of 60 to 95% by weight of actylonitrile and 40 to 5% of styrene and/or alpha-methyl styrene, the blend of (A) and (B) having 2 to 30% by weight rubber content and 50 to 93% by weight acrylonitrile content. Examples are given in which butadiene-styrene or butadiene styrene-acrylonitrile rubber is grafted with acrylonitrile, styrene and methyl vinyl ether and blended with acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer.
