1476054 Elevators T MATSUURA 25 Feb 1975 7915/75 Heading B8L A parking apparatus for vehicles comprises an upper pallet 3<SP>1</SP>, movable sideways between a lowered and a raised parking position along arcuate rails 11 and maintained horizontal during movement by pivoted supporting members 12, and a lower pallet 20 movable sideways into a parking position below the upper parked pallet 3<SP>1</SP>. The upper pallet, having pivoted drive on drive off ramps 4 at its ends, extends longitudinally between the two rails 11, each forming an arc between the ground and the top of a fixed vertical support 10. Rollers 5 at one side of the upper pallet roll along inverted T-sectioned rails 11 as the pallet is motivated by attached cables passing over pulleys 8 on the supports 12 and extending to motor driven winding drums 9. During upper pallet movemment, the members 12 simply pivot between horizontal and vertical positions. After elevation of the upper pallet, the lower pallet 20 may be moved sideways out from under the upper pallet to receive a vehicle whereafter the pallet 20 is moved back into its parked position. The lower pallet is movable by engagement with chains running in pits in the ground and being driven through sprockets 26, 28, shafts and clutches, from the motors M. In the embodiment of Fig. 2A (not shown) the pivoted supporting members are each associated with a pneumatic ram and linkage arrangement whereby the supporting members are positively driven in synchronism with the cable winding drive, to motivate the upper pallet.
