Abstract

1475769 Heterocyclic mercaptans and thioethers FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 6 Dec 1974 [7 Dec 1973] 52922/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] 2 - Mercapto - 5 carboxy - benzimidazole is prepared by refluxing 3,4-diaminobenzoic acid, dioxane, triethylamine and carbon disulphide. 2 - Mercapto - 5 - sulpho - benzimidazole and 1 - methyl - 2 - mercapto - 5 - sulpho - benzimidazole are prepared similarly. 2 - Mercapto - 5 - sulpho - benzoxazole is prepared by refluxing 2-aminophenol-4-sulphonic acid, NaOH, water and carbon disulphide and acidifying with HCl. 2-Mercapto-5-chloro- 7-sulpho-benzoxazole is prepared similarly. 2 - Benzylthio - 5 - carboxy - benzothiazole is prepared by mixing 2-mercapto-5-carboxybenzothiazole with sodium ethoxide, ethanol and benzyl bromide.
