Abstract
1387654 α-Amino-#-benzylmercapto-n-valeric acid plus intermediates therefor ILFORD Ltd 12 July 1973 [12 July 1972] 32487/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] α - Amino - # - benzylmercapto - n - valeric acid is obtained by neutralization of the corresponding hydrochloride made by hydrolysis of α - benzoylamino - # - benzylmercapto - n - valeric acid which is prepared by reacting benzyl mercaptan and 2-phenyl-4-n-propylidene-5-oxazolone. The latter is obtained by reacting hippuric acid with propionaldehyde in the presence of sodium acetate and acetic anhydride.
