Abstract
1475665 Digger blade-assemblies CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 29 Oct 1975 [31 March 1975] 44628/75 Heading E1F A corner tooth assembly, for an earth-moving implement 10, e.g. a dozer blade, having an upright sidewall 30 and a cutting edge 16 disposed in laterally extending relation from the sidewall, includes a corner tooth adapter having a rearward portion 40 the outer surface 46 of which converges rearwardly towards the sidewall 30 to which the portion 40 is secured to a lower forward outside surface thereof and a nose portion 52 extending forwardly of the sidewall, and a replaceable wear tip 42 mounted on the nose portion of the adapter so that loads on the tip during forward movement of the implement are transmitted through the adapter directly rearwardly to the sidewall without affecting the cutting edge. Preferably the rearward portion 40 of the adapter is secured to the sidewall 30 by welding 50 and the wear tip 42 is secured to the adapter by quick-release retaining pin means 78. The wear tip may extend forwardly and below the cutting edge. The adapter may be formed with an integral, outwardly projecting rib 60 for protecting the tip from being forced forwardly off the adapter during reverse movement of the implement.
