1475104 Winding bobbins with continuously supplied yarn; reserve windings ELITEX-ZAVODY TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI GENERALNI REDITELSTVI 13 Sept 1974 [20 Sept 1973] 39921/74 Heading D1J [Also in Division B8] A method of winding continuously supplied yarn 2, Fig. 1, onto bobbins 1 comprises feeding the yarn into a sucking tube 5 to tension the yarn, mounting an empty bobbin 1 in a bobbin holder such that the yarn is caused to pass partially around the bobbin on its way to the sucking tube 5, rotating the bobbin in the direction S and then introducing the yarn extending between the supply and the bobbin into a yarn distributer 4; there being a recess 3 in the bobbin and a projection 31, Fig. 3, in the recess, which projection does not extend outwardly beyond the curved surface of the bobbin, the recess 3 being spaced from the sucking tube 5 in a direction parallel to the axis of the bobbin, the arrangement being such that when the distributer 4 reverses its direction of motion where the recess 3 is situated the yarn is snagged by the projection 31 and thereafter both the yarn from the supply and the yarn in the sucking tube 5 are wound onto the bobbin I, the yarn from the supply being wound on top of the yarn from the sucking tube, the yarn from the sucking tube being finally wound up at an end 12 of the bobbin to form a yarn reserve. The sucking tube 5 may be in alignment with the end 12. When the bobbin is fully wound the yarn extending from the package to the supply is cut and the cut end extending from the supply is then introduced into the sucking tube 5. The fully wound bobbin is removed and the cycle repeated. The bobbin 1 may be roughened at 12 where the yarn reserve is to be wound. The bottom of the recess 3 forms a plane parallel to the axis of the bobbin. The projection 31 is declined from the axial direction such that the declination of the projection is in the direction of rotation of the bobbin. The inner surface 33 of the projection 31 encloses an acute angle B with the bottom of the recess.
