Abstract

1474518 Differential gearing MASSEY-FERGUSON SA 7 May 1974 [9 May 1973] 22133/73 Heading F2D The rotatable casing 46 of a differential gear may be locked to one of two output shafts 22, 23 by a clutch comprising a sleeve 80 splined to the shaft 22 and movable axially against Belleville springs 102 by an hydraulic actuator which surrounds the shaft but is not rotatable therewith. The actuator consists of a piston 96 connected to the sleeve by an inwardly extending annular projection 110 flanked by thrust washers 114, 118, 120 and movable axially in a fixed cylinder 86 which has a connection 122 for pressure fluid. A pin 106 and slot 108 prevent rotation of the piston, and the clutch has teeth 82, 84 with sloping faces to facilitate disengagement.
