Abstract
1474494 Multiple photo-flash unit GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 11 March 1975 [15 April 1974] 10013/75 Heading G2X [Also in Division H1] A multiple photo-flash unit comprises a plurality of flash-lamps 22-25, 27-30 in a common mounting, each lamp having its own reflector 22'-25', 27'-30', and the lamps being connected, by means of a printed circuit board, so as to fire individually in sequence, there being immediately adjacent each lamp, except for the final one in the firing sequence, a radiation sensitive switching device 63 which is switched permanently from a highly resistive state to a conductive state by the absorption of heat radiation from the flash. This causes the next lamp in the sequence to be brought into the circuit preparatory to the next flash. Fig. 3 shows how a switching device 63 is mounted beneath a window in the reflector 23'. Each switching device 63 is composed of a carboncontaining silver salt dispersed in a humidityresistant organic polymer binder (see Division H1). Fig. 2 (not shown) illustrates a printed circuit board lay-out which arranges the eight flash-lamps in two sequences of four, each sequence having a corresponding terminal tab 18,18' Fig. 1 for mounting on a camera.
