1474415 Moulds for apertured blocks SPANDEX PLASTICS Ltd 28 July 1975 [21 May 1974] 22737/74 Heading B5A [Also in Division E1] Wall blocks having one or more blind or through apertures therein, are moulded in a cavity defined by a mould bottom 2 (Fig. 1), a side wall 1, one or more cores 3 upstanding from the bottom, and an ejector plate (not shown). Cement, plaster or foamed plastics are tamped and levelled in the mould, which is inverted for ejection using handles 17, finger holes 16 and the ejector plate. The plate is exchangeable for different core patterns, or is universal by sitting in a recess in the mould bottom 2. The core or cores are formed integrally with the mould bottom or with a covering plate, or are bolted in place. The or each core comprises (a) a tapered core 3 having a step 4 at one end to form a step in the blind or through aperture moulded, (b) includes a recess 9 (Fig. 2) to mould a contoured end to a blind aperture, but can be covered by an end cap 6 to form a stepped, through aperture, (c) the recess 9 can be replaced by a projection fitting in a recess in the end cap (d) removable sleeves of different lengths and thicknesses fit over the core to define differently placed and dimensioned steps (as 4, Fig. 1), or (e) the core is indented 13 (Fig. 6) to define lugs in the aperture moulded. The step or lugs provided in the or each aperture are used to support adhered coloured, translucent or opaque glass or plastics panes; the blocks are used for garden screening.
