Abstract
1474032 Electrolyte composition; checking treatment of metals NORDISKE KABEL - Og TRAADFABRIKER AS 24 May 1974 [1 June 1973] 26374/73 Heading G1N A paste electrolyte comprising paste forming component, electrolyte and powder particles of insulating material is placed between two pieces of metal for determining the potential between them. The particles are preferably all the same size and may be of a grinding material e.g. quartz or glass or of a plastics material. One of the pieces of metal is preferably a standard electrode and the process may be used to determine that the other has been correctly heattreated. Apparatus comprises a pair of tongs 15 with a reference electrode 2 mounted in one jaw in insulating bush 14. Paste 3 is placed on the object to be tested and the object is clamped between the reference electrode which contacts the paste and the other jaw of the tongs by spring 16. For checking certain brasses on electrolyte containing copper chloride and quartz or plastic powder and an arsenic inhibited, heat-treated brass reference electrode may be used.
