Abstract
1473884 Sulphur/asphalt mixture SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 12 July 1974 [20 Feb 1974] 30959/74 Heading C3N A water-permeable sulphur/asphalt mixture having a sulphur to bitumen weight ratio of at least 1 : 1, e.g. 1À5 : 1-4 : 1, and comprising also a mineral aggregate is characterized in that the mineral aggregate has such a gradation that the quantity of aggregate passing sieve No. 200 (0À074 mm. mesh width) is at most 10% wt. and the quantity passing sieve No. 8 (2À38 mm. mesh width) is at most 40% wt., the void content of the aggregate is 25-42% vol. and the maximum aggregate size is 1À5 inches. The quantity of minerals passing sieve No. 8 may be 20-30% wt. and the quantity passing sieve No. 200 may be 5-8% wt. The sulphur content is preferably at most 8% wt. The mixture temperature of the ingredients is 112À8-175‹ C.
