Abstract

1473695 Continuous feed bacon slicing machine CASHIN SYSTEMS CORP 16 July 1974 [10 Oct 1973] 31399/74 Heading A4C A continuous feed bacon slicing machine 10, Fig. 1, comprises a rotary, eccentrically shaped disc blade 22, a feed bed 16 over which a bacon belly 18 is fed towards the blade, a side guide (48) Fig. 2 (not shown), an endless chain conveyer 20 having a flat surface planar with the feed bed and defined by transverse cleats 32 from each of which extend spikes 34, downwardly biased spring-loaded shoes 36a-36c suspended from a stationary plate 38 above the conveyer, and pressure fingers 42, 44 interposed between the leading end of the conveyer and the blade for engaging the surfaces of the bacon belly, a side finger (46) engaging the belly side surface. The conveyer comprises a pair of spaced sprocket chains 26 mounted on a drive sprocket 28 and an idler sprocket. In an alternative embodiment, the fingers are replaced by a tube 50, Fig. 3, between shoe 36a and the blade, having an open rear end 52 and a front end 54 which is reduced in cross-section and includes opposed inwardly biased pivotal arms 56, 58, the belly passing through the tube towards the blade and being gripped by the surfaces of said front end. The tube top plate (60) Fig. 7 (not shown), may be pivotal and biased downwardly, a bottom plate (62) thereof being stationary or pivotally biased upwardly. The blade is encased in a housing 24.
